Icons, Mysteries and the Furture of Fruit Trees

Inspired by icons in the urban landscape of St. Louis, these prints and drawings question how religion attempts to grasp reality through totalizing order and manipulating universal concepts. Although this attempt is altruistic it produces a residual internal violence. All totalizing systems lead to oppression as they dismiss the complexities of life. Icons, Mysteries and the Future of Fruit Trees uses images of mutant flora and fauna, floating landscapes and "smoke and mirror" smog to symbolize this conflict and its residual.
