trace winds

This project is an extension of research done at Penland. I am still interested in the ideas of struggle and dependence that the kite-form presents to me. Wanting to connect with this struggle more directly, I began documenting the flying sequences and later using that video in some very direct mark making. Out of this experiment came a series of drawings in which the process of mark making is directly linked to video projections. The projections provide paths for my mark making to follow. This creates a chaotic and tense networks of lines held together by seemingly random intersections.
